Description
Experience Level: Expert
Hi,
I'm a working songwriter (sometimes) and I'm currently working on a collaborative project, which for the most part is going pretty well, however, we have one idea which we just can't seem to get into pre production... We know it's got legs, but it doesn't seem to matter what treatment we give it, we just can't make it work.
At the moment, it's nothing more than an audible 'scribble', the lyrics aren't even finalised... We have made numerous DAW production attempts, but think a fresh approach is what's needed.
So, desperately seeking a Music Producer who can give us a sound that's somewhere between The War on Drugs' 'Under the Pressure' and The Cocteau Twins' 'Iceblink Luck'... If you have a decent knowledge of those songs (or even like them), that would be a great start... In a nutshell, I guess we want 80's anthemic synth pop, but instead of those Robert Smith style guitars and one dimensional beats, something more modern and edgy.
You'll act as our Musical Director. You can instruct us to deliver vocals, guitars and bass (only if you need us), and we'll deliver them on spec'... We'd like to leave the pads and beats up to you though, because they should be the main driver for the song and they're the bit we're struggling with most (this is where we need a fresh set of eyes. Ears?)
Would suit someone who's worked with bands, although happy to entertain all genres/approaches, if you've got a good sizzle reel and we think you might bring some magic.
Not sure what to pay, so please feel free to ignore the budget and quote me what the job is worth, we're not prioritising the cheapest bids by any stretch of the imagination.
Once we've got a few of you shortlisted, we may commission you to run small edits, so we can settle on the final applicant.
PLEASE point me to your demos - We're not idiots though, so don't try to bluff it with someone else's work, we'll be looking for you having a credit attachment to the work you show us.
Experience and/or People Per Hour 'rating' not important, just be great at what you do, be good at communicating and be nice, and there should be plenty of work; this project has a fair bit of interest from people who are willing to put serious money into it, if it goes well, and we won't forget you if it does.
Some materials may be handed to you in the build up to the project's start, to aid dialogue, but the majority won't be, until you've been selected and we're ready to go.
Early 'chats' are always welcome and the project will start within the next two or three weeks, with expected delivery sometime in January.
All the best, and thanks for reading this far.
Additional note **important**, as we intend to use your project file as a working tool for further development, no paid packs/plugins/extensions are to be used. Free third party stuff is fine, but forking out $000's for sample packs, effects and synths - just so we can run it, would not be ideal. Thanks.
