OVERVIEW OF PROJECT
OBJECTIVE: To produce a commercial standard mobile/tablet gaming app (Android
or iOS) using augmented reality technology.
THEME: Space and the Universe
GAME STORYLINE OVERVIEW
An astronaut must embark on a timed rescue mission to save another astronaut who has been detached from their space station/ship.
DETAILED GAMEPLAY STORYLINE:
● Cutscene: Two astronauts repairing a spaceship/station when an explosion occurs. One of the astronauts is blown into space and their harness is destroyed/detached. Their helmet is cracked slightly and oxygen begins to deplete.
○ Based off a similar scene from Passengers (2016) movie
● Game play begins
● Instructions: Rescue the Astronaut using your rocket boosters. You have less than 5 minutes to save your friend and bring him safely back to the Space Ship.
● Instructions: Use the left button to rotate the astronaut upwards or downwards
and turn left and right. Use the right buttons to accelerate, roll left, roll right and
stabilize.
● Game Play: Using the directional/movement buttons Player 1 must use his
boosters to navigate to the other astronaut within time limit and bring him back safely to the ship.
● End of Gameplay: Once Player 1 has successfully completed rescue mission game will end and display a short cutscene showing the two astronauts safely entering their space ship.
FEATURES:
● All animations should be viewed as augmented reality
● Single player game
● Timed gameplay
○ Ability to record and save timings
● Information pop-ups to explain controls and storyline
● Ability to restart and pause game at any point
● Background music (with ability to turn on and off)
● Zoom in and out
● CPU controlled astronaut that detaches from space ship and floats away into
space
○ Game should display distance to astronaut in meters and floating
astronauts oxygen level depleting
● Similar functionality to Gravity Don’t Let Go (game)
○ Player must be able to control movement in all directions (should be realistic according to the physics of space)
○ Player must be able to grab hold of second floating astronaut
○ Player must be able to return safely back to their space ship by pulling
on the harness
Description of requirements/features: UI DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Style should be similar to Gravity Don’t Let Go, i.e. simple, clean and neat. Designer can suggest colour palettes, fonts and other style features.
