Our company wishes to outsource its advertising sales on a fixed commission-only basis. Members of the Dental Professionals Association work in primary dental care ('high-street' dental practices). The house magazine 'GDP' is distributed to members and is an established brand (est. 1968). Advertisers consist of suppliers of products and services to the UK dental market (approx. £6bn). In addition we are seeking lifestyle advertising.
You will take over, and act as advertising portfolio manager to, an established list of advertisers and seek to expand that list with a high degree of autonomy. You will liaise with an Editor, Production Editor, printer and association staff. Magazine is bi-monthly, published in even months, with plans to increase to monthly within six months.
No dental knowledge required initially. Full support given. Potential advertising contacts will be supplied if necessary. The DPA is the only association open to all members of the dental team. Opportunities also to run campaigns linked to Web advertising on the DPA Web site.
You will be working remotely by telephone and email and receiving and forwarding advertising copy. You will be capable of working to deadlines and organising adverts by issue. A simple understanding of and ability to view text and graphic file attachments would be an advantage. The successful candidate will understand the need when approaching advertisers for professionalism so as not to damage the DPA brand.
The DPA is based in central London and you will be required to attend a bi-monthly feedback and planning meeting. You will also be required to attend at least one major conference a year over a maximum of three days to meet advertisers. Other meetings with advertisers will be at your discretion. various expenses are chargeable to the client, to be discussed at interview.
