Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Men Beyond 50
SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKING HELPER
I am seeking a suitably skilled and experienced person to assist me on a part time basis developing a start up online social enterprise project based in West Dorset.
The project is called Men Beyond 50 and its aim is respond to important unmet needs and aspirations of older men. We have a big vision:
- How can we help older men who are lost, vulnerable or voiceless find their way again in later life?
- How can older men best use their skills and experience to help mentor and guide younger people?
- How can the tribe of older people (men and women together) speak out most effectively on issues which really matter today?
Men Beyond 50 is currently a partnership between Alan Heeks and Max Mackay-James: because of the rapid growth of the project, we are now seeking 3 – 4 additional people to join our team part time. The project’s website is the focal point for all its resources, and includes a blog around which all the project’s social media activity turns. These online activities aim to provide a high quality knowledge network and support network, as well as to promote the products and services of the project, and to disseminate the Men Beyond 50 voice and viewpoint.
A support person is required to provide a range of assistance to Max Mackay-James for his role in the project;
v to grow these online activities including adding and updating information, improving the functionality of the website, undertaking research and developing content on our major themes and topics
v to promote traffic to and followers of the website and blog, and to develop interactivity across the project’s social media presences.
You should have:
- Operating skills and CMS familiarity and competences using Wordpress, Facebook, and YouTube platforms
- Knowledge of social media networking sites functionalities and applications (widgets and bolt-ons), including some ability to operate with HTML
- Experience in social media marketing methods and skills in media relations for initiating interest from, engaging with and responding to online traffic
- Experience and skills in the management of social media networking sites, including integrating activities, monitoring traffic, adding, updating and disseminating content, searching for, bookmarking and interacting with other online sites
You should be self-employed, resourceful and able to work from home - living in Dorset/Devon or the south-east would be essential for occasional meetings (ie in London or West Dorset). For more details of this project see www.menbeyond50.net.
The project is in its early stages and is not earning revenue yet,. Hence we are only able to offer a paid position at a modest rate, but there would be potential for allocation of later revenues when they arise.
Contract would be for an initial 3 to 6 month period.
