I run Stew, a magazine for children aged 8-12. It is smart, thought-provoking, challenging and fun - with features on the arts, science, history and world affairs, plus short stories, puzzles, pages to stimulate a child's creativity and even an age-appropriate agony aunt.
Stew is a print magazine, published six times a year on good quality paper, and is full of beautiful illustrations. It's not a glossy comic with plastic toys on the cover - instead, it promotes literacy and learning in an entertaining style.
It has had excellent feedback from young readers, their parents and schools. Stew has also been very well reviewed in the national press. The magazine retails in quality outlets, including Foyles and Tate Modern, but is sold primarily through annual subscription. Since its launch two years ago, the magazine has grown steadily though very slowly. And the reason why? Not enough people know about Stew.
I run the magazine alone and in my spare time (I'm a full-time journalist), and I just don't have the time, energy or, indeed, skill to market Stew properly. So I am looking for someone who can tell the world about this small but lovely children's publication.
I'm looking for someone who not only has lots of ideas about how to raise its profile, but is also prepared to roll up their sleeves and put those ideas into practice. (What I don't want is a consultant telling me what I should be doing.)
