Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Problem: Theatre House is an online theatrical supply company and we need your help making sure that our schools have our updated tax and vendor information.
How you’ll help us: You will help grow the market reach of Theatre House and theatrical productions come to life in the schools that we serve.
Job Overview: In order for Theatre House to grow its customer base we must be an approved vendor within each county or county school system (dependent on the size of the county). Your task is to apply for vendor status within a variety of counties and school systems within a given state.
You will be given a state to remit our information as a vendor. Based on your performance, we may choose to assign additional states. We are going to award three states to three different individuals. We will evaluate performance and continue our relationship with additional states for the top two performers.
We are breaking this into two separate assignments. Gathering the contact information and then doing the actual information submission.
How To Do This:
Segment the individual state by population. We recommend counties based on population size; over 100,000 / 50,000-99,999 / 20,000-49,999 / Under 20,000.
Starting on counties with the highest population, compile a complete list of county school system websites.
On most websites you will find a page related to procurement, purchasing or vendors. This is the section relevant to your task. You are looking for the vendor application. (the current websites will be .gov or .org. If the county school system website does not have a vendor application, the general county website will.)
Please note: Not all schools are the same. There are a variety of registration methods by schools.
School district: Some schools sell by the individual school and some are sold or agreed upon at a county school level. You will need to be able to determine this information.
Purchasing coops: Some schools buy via purchasing coops. You will need to be able to determine this information.
Electronic remittance: If a school participates in electronic remittance, you will need to be able to capture what software/system they utilize.
City wide board of educations: certain cities operate as a unified school district, like New York City, you must be able to determine this information.
Using the information provided to you under the section Relevant Information, fill out and submit the vendor application in each county.
You will record in a spreadsheet the following info regarding the counties in which you are researching:
URL
Required information for vendor registration
Can we register electronically?
Is your information accurate that you captured?
Can you do this quickly for a given school?
Relevant Information:
Company Description-
Tax ID-
Phone Number-
Email Address-
Street Address-
We will provide this once we have a agreement.
Skills & Tools required:
Attention to detail/data accuracy
Excel or Google Doc
You must be able to understand and discern how county/school systems are broken down. This requires a necessary appreciation for how a state/county/city school system is setup to manage their purchasing behaviors.
Fluent in English
Writing is a required skill and you must remit a proficient writing sample.
Access to a phone (if required to determine information)
Laptop
Email access
You will be required to propose your first cost for a state and range of hours that supports for this task.
