    Description

    Experience Level: Intermediate
    Estimated project duration: Ongoing
UK distributor of a European brand leading barbecue with a unique cooking system seek to engage with the food and cooking media, especially TV, to expose their product but also to promote outdoor cooking in general.

The UK barbecue market seriously under performs compared with our European neighbors. For example, Norway, with a population of around 5 million, annual purchase the same value of the brand leading barbecue as we here in the UK do with a population of 70 million. The potential in the UK market is massive.

    The answer?

The answer is education. The average UK barbecuing citizen considers a barbecue to involve burnt sausages and burgers, lots of flames and smoke and the obligatory can of beer in one hand. Oh yes, and this only happens when temperatures top 30 degrees.

The fact is, a quality bbq will do everything that an oven and hob in the kitchen will do and our product can be used in all weather.

Another obstacle is that most of the supermarkets, who do a great job of offering bbq specific food 'in season' and spend millions promoting it across all media, recommend that their customers pre heat food in the oven before barbecuing, we know this is madness but we also know they need to do this to cover themselves.

What would really kick start the UK barbecue market would be for a TV chef to understand and promote barbecuing as a safe and fun way to cook fine food and promote our product along the way. Currently most of them shy away from barbecues even though many of them sell their own branded barbecues.

Finally, we all witnessed the awful weather conditions over Christmas result in tens of thousands of people being without power. All across the media we heard many of these people explaining how they successfully cooked Christmas lunch on their bbq, priceless publicity but sadly over looked by the masses.
We also sponsor the British BBQ Society who through various events host the British BBQ Championships, the winner of which goes through to the World Championships in USA.

Barbecuing is a passion, do you have the passion to make the UK market explode?

    Cheers
