Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We're looking for a venue in the area around Manchester for our new, exciting, sports event.
Our event is called Rough Runner, and you're welcome to have a look at our website to see what it's all about - roughrunner.com. In short, it's a 5km, 10km or 10 mile run with obstacles on the way for participants to tackle.
We're new to the obstacle racing scene, having had our first event in Bordon in March last year which went really well.
We're trying to open up the world of obstacle races to the masses who might not appreciate electric shocks, ice baths and barbed wire (a la Tough Mudder), and have instead gone for a game show angle involving obstacles like The Travelator from Gladiators.
Most of our obstacles are self-supporting and leave little evidence behind after the event, so we don't need to do any digging or other land upheaval.
We need the following things from a venue to host Rough Runner:
1. Access to an area of at least 300 acres
2. 2 weeks setting up, then a 2-day weekend event and 3-4 days de-rigging
3. This would ideally be towards the end of October 2015, or early November otherwise
4. Car parking capacity for at least 1000 cars
5. Alcohol is served on site, so we need permission to do that
6. Facilities are ideal but not absolutely necessary - running water, electricity and toilets.
7. Hire cost of around £4 per person (we expect around 2000 runners)
8. Water features like lakes, rivers and streams are a bonus.
I'm already overwhelmed with work so could do with someone to help out a little and try find us a shortlist of maybe 10 venues.
Look forward to hearing from you!
PS just to sort the men from the boys, or the ladies from the girls, and ensure you've read all this, type Hey JG as your intro to your application.
Thanks
Jonathan
