Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are based in the UK and specialise in sports products.
We are looking for an engineer with experience in UWB (Decawave for preference) to design an athlete tracking system for us.

Phase 1 of the system we envisage would be based on 6 or 8 anchors that are placed around the playing area that report x,.y player coordinates to an FPGA. Refresh rate is expected to be 2Hz.
The anchors must be self aligning and synchronising without the need to measure physical distance between them (TDOA).
Phase 2 would involve treatment of the x,y data (Khalman filters etc) at FPGA level.
We have extensive documentation of requirements and video of similar systems that successfully use the same technology.
Previous experience in RTLS systems using UWB technologies would be very useful.
We would expect the work to follow the following path:
1) Key Design Decisions
2) Design Phase including prototypes.
3) Verification Phase - ready for introduction to production
This is a very interesting and well paid job for an engineer with relevant experience, and we would expect a long term relationship moving forward into other products once completed.
We estimate the value of the work to be between $15,000 to $20,000 but we are happy to look at quotes higher or lower than that.

Is an FPGA essential? Would you integrate existing kit with new software?
Emquad E.21 Jul 2018Hi,
An FPGA (or equivalent) is necessary to upload data to cloud services, but this could be a separate development if X,Y coordinates were being delivered successfully to an end point.
Yes our own bespoke software will be developed on whatever hardware is finally developed or sourced.
