We have recently taken on a WordPress multilingual website. We have been working our way through a number of site health issues flagged by Ahrefs, and it has come to our attention that the website isn't using WPML SEO. When activated, this has exacerbated a different set of issues. We are looking for an expert in WPML SEO to untangle the issue and create a clear direction on how to set up the website best for SEO and clear up the errors created.

When WPML SEO is enabled, what specifically deteriorates—hreflang validation, canonical URLs, duplicate metadata, translated slugs, XML sitemaps, or unexpected indexing behaviour? That will help determine whether the issue lies with WPML itself or with the site's existing multilingual configuration.
