Description

Our company runs scientific writing seminars in Europe for students and scientists in the natural sciences and engineering. For an upcoming advertising campaign, I need to create a list of the names, postal addresses and email addresses of the main coordinating scientists at the various Marie Curie Training Networks in Europe. These are European projects running generally for four years and focussed in training PhD students.
There are 161 such projects and they are listed at the following website:
https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/opportunities/topic-details/msca-itn-2020
You have to scroll down some distance until you see "Projects funded under this topic"
Below this, you'll see a list of projects. Ten visible on this page, and others if you click to go further.
I need someone to go to this web site as a starting point, to find the information for each of the different projects (detail on how to do that below), and then to enter this information into an Excel spreadsheet.
FORMAT: The format for returning the information should be: university and department or institute name in column A, name of the contact person in column B (Dr. or Prof., if appropriate, followed by first name and last name, no commas), and email address in column D. If some of this information is not available, the name and email are the most important for us.
Unfortunately, it may take some googling around to find the right information. The main web site mentioned above lists the projects, and there's a link for each one. But if you click on these, you'll go to pages which don't show anything (may be old links, I'm not sure). The better way is to select the text of the project name, enter it into a google search between quotes "name", and search. I suggest also putting into the search "ITN" and "coordinator"
I've tried a few, and found that to be a decent way to find the actual name of the scientist acting as project coordinator. For example, for "Developing optoelectronics in two-dimensional semiconductors", the 3rd result in a google search with ITN and coordinator was the following page
https://itn-2exciting.chm.tu-dresden.de/positions/tcd/
This is an advertisement for some research positions from the group. But from this page, if you click on "home," you go to https://itn-2exciting.chm.tu-dresden.de/ which is the main website for the project. Then, if you click on "partners" you will see that the coordinator is Thomas Heine of the Technical University of Dresden. From here the easiest is to just new a new google search: "Thomas Heine" Dresden email and you'll seeon find his email as t.heine@hzdr.de
As another example, a search on the project "Advanced research and Training Network in Food quality, safety and security" brings upm seversal web pages. I can quickly see that this group calls themselves FoodTraNet and has the main website www.foodtranet.org. On this page I looked at Project Info, and it's not clear who is the coordinator is until the very bottom of the page, where I see the coordinator is Prof. Dr. Nives Ogrinc of the Jožef Stefan Institute in Slovenia. Doing a separate search on her name and email I quickly found nives.ogrinc@ijs.si
Unfortunately, there's no one search recipe that will work for all cases. Try anything you can! If don't find anything in 2-3 minutes, just give on on that one. If we can get names for 75% of the projects, that would be fine. For each project, try to find at least one contact. If more than one are listed, just give us 2 or 3 of them.
Finally, only try to find names and contact information for the projects listed on the main web site. That site also lists some events such mini-conferences or workshops. Ignore those.
In some cases, you may not be able to find the head of an institute or the director. In that case, please instead give the details for one of their secretaries or a departmental or institute secretary.
Unfortunately, things will be a little different for every project. Sorry about this. The overall task requires some flexibility and ongoing exploration.
If any web site gets you completely confused, just email me and I will try to help.
