Summary description of role
Our website is a typical daily deal website that has been developed by a programmer using a standard joomla template which uses K2 and virtuemart. The website is functional but has design flaws which compromise the user experience. The project is to review the existing website and related applications and to make improvements to both the aesthetics and the functionality of the website and related systems.
The project will consist of four 7 hour days , two of which will be on site in Dublin.
The person appointed will spend the first day on site in Dublin with our web administrator reviewing our website and identifying improvements. This session will include walkthrough and documentation of existing process to test the basic functionality of the website and identify any major deficiencies. Most of the proposed improvements will be agreed during this session.
During the following week the person appointed will spend as total of 14 hours (off site) making the agreed improvements.
This will specifically include
• Walk through testing to ensure applications and databases work as planned
• End user testing to solicit feedback on “usability” from potential users
• Development/modifications to process for sending email, vouchers and and other correspondence to customers
• Development /modification to process for secure issuing of vouchers
• Modifications to the iphone enabled capability
• Modification to shopping cart to allow user go straight to checkout
• Modifying the general appearance/colour scheme of the site
• Changing the appearance of the “buy” button
• Designing a new logo
• Other improvements agreed as part of the preliminary review on day 1.
This work can be done off site if preferred
In week 4 the person will be onsite again for 7 hours demonstrating the proposed changes. This session will include the preparation of a simple user manual showing the web administrator how to use the content management system. The project will conclude with a successful walk through of a sample purchase.
