Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Pitch Invasion is the UK's most prestigious provider of 5-a-side football leagues. Using pitch space contracted from sports centres etc., it markets and administers professionally organised leagues and uses its powerful and well-established brand to recruit teams from all across the footballing community.
Pitch Invasion has always prided itself on standard-setting IT systems and web based software to enable the smooth running of its events. Pitch Invasion's website is fundamental to its success and truly sets it apart from other 5-a-side operators. We are looking to build on this success by recruiting an all-round web design and development rockstar.
We're looking for somebody who dreams in XHTML and doodles PHP code when they're on the phone. We need someone who can Photoshop a banner in the blink of an eye, then bring it into Flash and animate some falling snow. We need someone who knows their way around a Linux server and isn't afraid of the command line. We need someone who knows the web inside out and can't get enough of building and maintaining web pages.
Most contact will be by phone and email, and the applicant will be working from home. However, we will want to meet up from time to time, which is why the applicant should live in the South Coast region of England.
MAIN FEATURES of the ROLE

- Self employed on a part time basis
- Estimated 10-15 hours per week will be required
- Working hours flexible although must be contactable by phone/email during normal office hours.

1. Communicating with, and understanding the needs of, staff members' regarding new functions or reports. Creating new changes personally.
2. Creative design projects, such as changing banner ads, images, colour schemes throughout the web pages.
3. Investigating errors or bugs reported by users.
4. Updating content on the website at the request of staff members (eg news, photos, links, menus etc)
5. Managing standard IT functions such as email boxes, cron jobs, SMS functions, backups, domains and DNS etc.
6. Once new functions or reports are created, communicate and train PI staff on their use and act as trouble shooter and user support thereafter.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
--------------------
Aptitudes Required
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Organised, systematic and thorough
- Ability to communicate and train non-IT literate system users
- Understand the basic mechanics of football leagues (league tables, fixtures etc)
- Committed and stable (this is a permanent position)
Technical Skills (essential)
- Web Design: (X)HTML and CSS
- Web Development: PHP/MySQL
- Linux Server Administration (Server runs Centos 4.4)
