Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Project background
Aria Technology are a leading UK based retailer of computer components and pre-built computer systems. We are in the process of developing our 'gladiator' brand of pre-built systems as a more distinct entity, principally through the creation of a separate website which will only sell complete systems (as opposed to individual components). This website will sell pre-assembled systems, and also provide a mechanism for customers to choose their system components themselves.
The project
The technical development of the website is already well under way; the functionality of customer registration / login / purchasing / choosing options for a configurable system, and the back-end integration with our existing internal order processing applications are largely complete.
What we are looking for is a creative designer to assist us with the overall appearance of the website, and possibly the individual graphical components. You do not need to be a programmer, although past experience of website development is expected - we will be able to realise your design whether it is provided in the form of a Photoshop template or as a working CSS / HTML template. In brief, what we are looking for is a talented individual to develop and provide guidance of the site aesthetics - graphics, layout, colour scheme and 'theme', logo etc.
The challenge
Aria Technology sell PCs to a wide range of customers. The particular challenge of this project is to produce a design which will appeal to this broad spectrum of visitors - the chosen theme, logo etc. needs to have appeal and resonance with gamers (at present our largest market), while also being acceptable to and not alienating corporate / educational or other business customers.
Where you come in
The successful candidate will have a passion for graphic design, and experience of the application of design principles to web development. You will research our market and our competitors to get a feel for what works and doesn't work, and then provide us with a design template (HTML/CSS or Photoshop) which we will be able to use as the basis of the design aesthetics of the new Gladiator website. We are moving rapidly on this project, so the ability to work quickly and to a tight deadline is essential.
There is also opportunity to work with us on a long term basis.
Please respond with a selection of your portfolios and an hourly rate.
