Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are a support organisation that was established 10 years ago by Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and WWF to encourage the development and rollout of wind power in the UK.
In 2009 the brand was acquired by Pendragon PR.. The brand had been allowed to drift at a time when there is more debate about the development of wind power in the UK than ever before.
An absolutely vital element that helps wind farm applications is evidence of strong backing for particular proposals from supporters. Such support can be demonstrated by means of the establishment of support groups, submission of supporter letters to planning officers and other forms of backing from local businesses and residents.
It is a key priority that the company expands its membership numbers so that each wind farm application can be supported by as many individuals as possible.
A viable means of raising the brand profile and attracting more active supporters to sign up is by organising a number of competitions that appeal to different age, demographic and regional groups.
It is intended that inclusive competitions should be marketed to different population sectors and that attractive prizes are made available to category winners and best placed runners up.
It is anticipated that the competitions will be supported by corporate sponsors who have an interest in developing and promoting their sustainable and renewable credentials. Examples of companies who might be interested in sponsoring competitions might include banks and building societies, vehicle manufacturers, food and beverages companies, natural cosmetics companies and sustainable tourism operators.
our company intends to organise annual Green Champions Awards. There will be a number of different award categories and entrants will be able to put forward sustainable and green projects that are not necessarily wind-related.
The categories are:
- Individual award (adult)
- Individual award (under 18)
- Community award
- People's award
- Schools award
The competition will be organised online and promoted online and offline to attract entrants.
Website specification
The website will stand alone from the main site although the two sites will have prominent cross-linking.
The suggested url is www.greenchampions.co.uk which is an unused though registered domain.
The website will be fairly simplistic and consist initially of seven top navigation pages:
- Home page
- Award Categories
- Competition Entry
- Judges Panel
- Award Sponsors
- Contact Us
- About us
There will also be a secondary bottom navigation consisting of:
- Sponsorslogos (added as required)
- Terms and conditions page
Branding
Each page will have consistent branding that has the same look and feel as our comapny website
The official companylogo will appear on each page with accompanying words: 2010 yes2wind Green Champions Awards
Each page will also feature Winnie, the yes2wind mascot who will act as online competition comp.
The same cloudy blue sky that acts as an upperscreen backdrop at www.yes2wind.com will be applied to the competition site.
Written content will be supplied by Pendragon PR.
