Description
I’m looking for a freelance web designer/developer to help build and shape a website for my expedition and guiding work.
This isn’t a corporate project it’s a personal one with a strong story behind it, so I’m ideally looking for someone independent (or early in their career) who wants to be involved in something meaningful rather than just another job.
I run an adventure company and I’m currently developing a major Antarctic expedition project called The Last Cache, alongside offering guiding and training in the UK. The website needs to reflect both the professional side of the business and the storytelling/expedition side of the project.
What I’m Looking For
A clean, modern website but i do already like my design its fun and expresses me.
Strong visuals, simple navigation, and good storytelling flow
Ability to showcase:
Guiding services
Expedition project (The Last Cache)
Media / film / partners
Mobile-friendly and easy for me to update
Platform / Tech
Currently, the website is built using Linux-based hosting, as I’ve been supporting a friend who is starting out with servers.
That said I’m completely open to moving away from this if there’s a better, more practical solution (e.g. Squarespace, Webflow, etc.), especially if it makes the site easier to manage and develop properly.
I’d value your input on what platform would be best.
Who This Would Suit
Freelancers building their portfolio
Someone trying to establish themselves (not a large agency)
Ideally someone with an interest in:
Adventure / outdoors / expeditions
Story-driven projects
More important than years of experience is:
good communication
creativity
actually caring about the project
Budget
Open to discussion depending on scope, but looking for a fair rate for both sides. But there could be scope for a collaboration on the expedition site?
To Apply
Please send:
Examples of previous work (even if small or personal projects)
A short note about yourself
Any initial thoughts you might have for this kind of project

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing the project details. To make sure I can propose the best approach, could you clarify: whether you’d like to keep your current design style entirely or are open to minor refinements, whether the site needs a CMS for ongoing updates for guiding services, expedition content, and media, if you want to host on a managed platform like Webflow/Squarespace for ease or continue with your Linux setup, and whether there are any specific interactive or storytelling elements (maps, media galleries, videos) you want highlighted for The Last Cache expedition? This will help me suggest the most practical platform, structure, and visual approach for your personal adventure website.
