Description
I’m looking for an individual freelancer to design and build a new WordPress website for my business, iControl Systems.
I’m looking to work directly with the person who will actually design and build the website, so please no agencies or web development companies.
We work in the technology installation industry across residential and commercial projects. On the residential side this includes smart home systems, lighting, AV, Wi-Fi etc. Commercially we do CCTV, alarms, data/network cabling, Wi-Fi and audio/visual systems.
We already have a website but I’m looking to start again rather than just update the existing one.
The main thing I’m looking for is someone who can make the new site look really good. I don’t want it to look like a typical IT, CCTV or AV installer website.
I’d like it to feel more like a high-end property, architecture or interiors website — quite simple, clean and modern with good use of images.
I’m quite particular about the look of the site, so I’m looking for someone who is happy to work collaboratively on the design and make revisions based on feedback. I’d rather get the design right first before everything is built out. Please only apply if you’re comfortable with a reasonable amount of back and forth during the design stage.
It also needs to be fast and built properly for SEO. I’m working separately on the SEO, site structure and content, so I’m not looking for an SEO package, but I do need someone who understands SEO when building WordPress sites.
There will be separate residential and commercial sections, various service pages, projects/case studies, locations and some articles/guides. I also want to be able to add pages and projects myself afterwards without having to go back to the developer every time.
I’m not fixed on Elementor or any particular WordPress setup, so happy to take advice on the best way to build it. I would prefer to keep the site fairly lightweight and not have loads of unnecessary plugins.
When applying
Please send me 3 live websites you’ve personally designed/built that you think are closest to what I’m describing.
I’m particularly interested in seeing work you’ve done for architecture, interiors, property, luxury brands or similar businesses.
Please also let me know:
* What part of those websites you did yourself
* How you normally build your WordPress sites
* Roughly how long you think this would take
* What you would need from me to get started
* How you normally handle design revisions and feedback before development
I’m happy to work with freelancers outside the UK.
If it goes well, there will probably be more work as we add to the site over time.
Thanks
Robert H.

Hello Robert
QUICK QUESTIONS BEFORE I START
Could you share your current website and 2–3 reference websites that match your preferred style?
Do you have professional project photography available, or will we need to source imagery?
Would you prefer to approve homepage and key-page designs before development begins?
Do you have a target launch date?
-

Hi Robert
Is this the current site?

Kind regards

Hi Robert
It would be great to look at your existing site.
Can you share the URL?
Assume you'll be keeping this domain.
Does your current hosting package offer a STAGING environment?
Kind regards
Farook -

Also before I quote, your listing shows £250. Is that meant for the whole project, or for a first stage such as the design mockups?
-

Hi Robert, could you share 2–3 websites whose visual style you particularly like?

Starting fresh with a clean, high end look for the separate residential and commercial sections sounds like the right direction for iControl Systems. Will you be supplying the project photography for those sections, or should the design allow for images to be added later?
