Description
Experience Level: Expert
I am looking for a architect/designer to design a partition for a living room. The lounge is an L shape and we want a partition across one of the legs of the L, making a new bedroom and a rectangular living room. The new room won't have external windows and so we need to have glass elements to allow natural light. Partition dimensions are 4m 37 cm wide and 2m 48 cm high.
A plasterboard partition with window would be easy but boring and not allow enough light. My preference is for it to have a decorative design and be cool /chic. The flat is in central London, and has views of the Shard and the Gherkin
Current thoughts are combination of
1. Door: Hinged Glass / Large Sliding Glass / Normal
2. Glass Tiles Square (190 x 190 x 80) or Half Size (190 x 90 x 80) or Large 240x115x80mm
3. Create some kind of design using multi coloured tiles (e.g a Cityscape for example – see E in pdf attached)
4. Have attached links to glass block suppliers
5. Consider fire resistance/ sound insulation / transparency of the glass tiles
Stage A
I'm looking for the architect / interior designer to come up with 3 or 4 different sketches of possible ideas. This meant to be quick however to include sufficient detail to allow the final impact to be seen and a decision made on which one to run with
Stage B
To take the chosen design concept and to add the detail so that a builder could build it. e.g. the specification of the glass tiles, size colour supplier etc. If being laid out to make a design then an exact design. If a particular design is to be used for the frosted door for example then to fully specify that and the supplier.
Please specify the stage A and B costs separately
I’ve attached photos, some partition ideas, and my rough ideas (these are thoughts only and not meant to constrain your ideas)
