Website logo design

Our site needs some excellent logo finish.

The attached sketch shows the basic idea that we have for it at the moment: a sun with rays and a target marker on it.
Generally, we like the proportion as it is and, except for the marker, the logo should stick to B&w/grayscale.

We would appreciate an artistic touch to give the image a good finish so that:
- the logo itself would scale better in size and be less bulky
- it gets a more rune-like symbolic appearance like carved in stone
- the sun has some subtle fill/effect and not just white
- some border effect/gradient
- the logo should look best on a white background
- the target marker would have an orange/red strong color with good contrast
+ any other ideas appreciated

On top of the abstract logo, we need a more realistic color (yellow-orange) image representation of the sun within the symbol guidelines, like it comes alive, for example on a hover effect.

Next item is a combination of logo and site name, like in the second attachment, but maybe with a good font that allows the ray on the right to continue and strike-through the name and look misterysh. This is what we have in mind, but we are open to suggestions about how to best put together the logo and the name.
