Re brand / logo design for a 100+ year old company in the UK motorcycle trade

Information for the business: We make sidecars for motorbikes as a core business.

Brand name/slogan in logo: Watsonian Sidecars

Ideas for the visual style: We have an existing logo that would require an update
Preferred colors: red / gold / dark blue / black
Where the design will be used: across all media / new website .
Extra notes: We have a 100+ year old motorcycle company in the UK. Provisionally we have an old logo that was used back in the 60/70's that we would like to base around our new logo . Our current logo ( if you choose to review our business ) is not to be incorporated in any way .

We wish to go down the same kind of line as the Triumph motorbike logo, but within a rectangular shape, where "Watsonian " is the primary focus of the logo. We do not want any images or graphics. The Brand is Watsonian and it is important that we keep the new logo simple but powerful .
We would like to use colours that purvey a sense of trust / reliability / class and longevity .
We would like to use a font that purveys a sense of familiarity. Perhaps helvetica styles .
We would like to incorporate, at least a nod to the union jack, within part of the logo -
We do have some files of previous logos to view - only jpeg.

We are undertaking a complete re brand of the business, to bring it out of the 70's and in to 2017. We are the oldest and largest sidecar manufacture in the world . Although a niche, a true heritage UK business.
We are in the motorcycle industry, and sell a range of sidecars that we manufacture and fit in our factory in the cotswolds .

We would require all final files for the logo . All file types that would enable us to use the work for print / web and graphic based design .
