Description
This isn't just a logo redesign—it's the visual identity for a growing YouTube brand with a long-term vision
Hi,
I'm looking for an experienced UK graphic designer to professionally recreate and refine the existing logo for my growing YouTube channel, The Novice Railway Modeller.
This is not a completely new logo design project.
I already have an established logo and brand identity that my audience recognises. I'm looking for a talented designer to professionally redraw it as true vector artwork, improve it where appropriate, and create a complete brand pack suitable for YouTube, embroidery and future merchandise.
The logo will become the foundation of my brand for many years to come.
About the Channel
The Novice Railway Modeller is a YouTube channel documenting the construction of my first ever OO gauge model railway, called Sandale.
The audience is primarily:
first-time model railway builders
beginners
hobby enthusiasts
The brand should feel:
Friendly
Trustworthy
British
Heritage inspired
Premium
Educational
Timeless
Think:
National Trust
Railway Heritage
Quality craftsmanship
Not:
Gaming
Comic
Tech startup
Modern corporate
Existing Logo
I will provide:

70 mm wide (shirt)
45 mm wide (cap)
Designer must understand embroidery limitations.
3. Icon Version
Small circular version for:

YouTube watermark
social media
4. Single Colour Versions

Deliverables
Please provide:
Adobe Illustrator (.AI)

Important
This is not a simple image trace.
I want a designer who can improve the logo while respecting its existing identity.
Experience creating logos for embroidery is highly desirable.
Budget
£120–£150
I'm happy to pay more for the right designer with excellent branding experience.
Quality is much more important than the lowest price.
Timescale
Flexible.
I'd rather wait an extra week for excellent work.
To Apply
Please include:
examples of logo design
examples of embroidery-ready artwork (if possible)
examples of branding projects
confirmation that you can supply true vector artwork
A Little About Me
I'm not a professional modeller.
In fact, I built my first model railway at the age of 60.
That's why the channel is called The Novice Railway Modeller.
The channel has grown into a fantastic community of beginners and experienced modellers alike, and this logo will become the visual identity of the channel for many years to come.
I'm looking for a designer who enjoys building brands and would like to become part of that journey.

Hi Richard,
For the 45 mm cap version, would you prefer a faithful reduction of the full badge, or are you open to a purpose-built simplified lock-up where details such as “The”, the leaf veins and parts of the Yorkshire Rose are reduced or removed for stitch clarity?
Also, do you already have minimum text-height or stroke-width guidance from your embroiderer, or should the designer propose suitable embroidery-safe limits as part of the brand pack? -

Hi Richard, is the logo and brand pack project for The Novice Railway Modeller still open? Would any additional detail on the vector redraw, embroidery-ready variants or file delivery help with the decision?

As we work on improving the logo, is instant recognition within your YouTube following more essential than having a logo that is cleaner and easier to adapt for embroidery, merchandise, etc. in the future?
Richard R.15 Jul 2026Thanks, that's a great question.
Recognition is definitely the priority, but I don't see it as an either/or decision. My existing logo has become part of my YouTube channel's identity, so I don't want to replace it with something completely different. Instead, I'm looking to evolve it into a cleaner, more professional version while keeping the overall character and recognisability that my subscribers already know.
The logo needs to work across YouTube, social media, clothing, embroidery and future merchandise, so I'd like it to be refined with those uses in mind. I'm very happy to have different versions of the logo where appropriate—for example, a full primary logo for digital use and a simplified version that's optimised for embroidery on T-shirts and baseball caps.
My goal is that an existing subscriber instantly recognises the logo, while a new viewer sees a brand that feels premium, timeless, trustworthy and professional. I'd much rather evolve the current identity than completely redesign it.
I'm very open to your creative suggestions on how to achieve that balance, as that's why I'm looking for an experienced branding designer rather than simply having the existing artwork traced.Azqaa Designs15 Jul 2026Thank you for sharing it it really tells me quite a bit about what success will look like for your project.
I understand that it's not about making an entirely new logo for you but about maintaining the recognition you've achieved while making the current logo more premium-looking and usable everywhere from YouTube channel to embroidered products and merchandise you'll sell in the future.
This type of project is what I love doing most.
What you need is not a new identity but a development of the current one, simplification of shapes when necessary, improvement of balance and scalability and the creation of flexible logo system (primary version, simplified version and icon version) that will be easily recognizable in any use.
And one question I would really like to discuss with you is the following:
What would you like your subscriber to say upon seeing the logo of your brand in six months?
This answer will become the guideline for all our decisions during the process.
In case we agree on everything I suggest, I would be happy to come up with some concepts for you.
