Classic Logo and Artwork Design

‎I run a local news blog called Durham Dispatch, and I'm looking for a logo and website artwork that capture the spirit of Durham, NC, and independent local journalism. The design should draw on imagery connected to the city and to the values of progressive journalism. For example: the bull (Durham is known as "The Bull City"), the iconic Lucky Strike water tower, a newspaper motif, a blue heron, tobacco production (a nod to Durham's industrial history), and roses. This list is meant as inspiration, not a constraint. I'm open to other ideas that fit the same spirit.
