Hello! Thanks for looking at my project!
I'm looking for a qualified civil / structural engineer to redesign some plans for a roofing project. The roof on my building in Bournemouth has failed due to a botched conversion in the 80s. We (the leaseholders) have had a structural engineer make detailed calculations and drawings to rebuild the roof. His plan was to use a custom made steel beam. However, I have spoken to several roofing contractors who have all informed me that his plans are OTT, are inappropriate for a small block of flats and will be hugely expensive; and that the job can be done just as well using timber.
I'm looking to hire a civil / structural engineer who can take a look at the present calculations and drawings and produce plans that will allow for the use of wood in the construction and rebuilding of the roof. Everything needs to be suitable for a contractor to work from to complete the project within current UK building regulations. Is it even possible to work from someone else's calculations and plans? I hope you can help advise in this regards!
Is this something you can do?! I'd be happy to talk through the job with anyone interested or who needs to know more information. I have all the current drawings, plans, calculations and documents available.
I've attached a sample document of the current plans for reference.
Fee open for discussion but I have a ballpark figure in mind.
Many thanks,
Matt
