Layout AND interior design of open-plan kitchen extension

We are currently in the midst of building work on an extension for a new large open plan family kitchen dining area and I'm keen for some help with both the layout and the styling.

I have a general idea of layout and where the kitchen units should/will probably go as well as where the kitchen table and sofa seem to make sense but am keen for someone with more experience to refine my layman's idea on layout (or suggest something different if necessary), particularly the kitchen units layout but additionally I would like help to offer some interior design/styling ideas to help decide on type & colour of kitchen units, wall colours etc
