Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Design details: hello
I restore vintage record players and i need to recreate logo and text which is screen printed onto the body of a turntable.
In the process all of the paint is removed and the graphics and logos. I want to create a set of graphics which i can reappply to the body of the turntable before painting over with clear lacquer to seal and protect it.
The method i want to use for the graphics is custom dry transfers (letraset) from this company..
http://modelshop.co.uk/Static/WorkShop/Dry-Transfers
Someone already sells these graphics but there are two problems with them that need to be addressed.
1. The material is by nature very delicate and the letters easily fall off the backing paper. The guy has laid them out too close together (to fit as many as possible on a sheet) and its really difficult to cut them up without the letters coming off the backing paper
2. There are no positioning guidelines so it is really difficult to line them up accurately on the body of the turntable. The more times i move them to try and get them straight on the body of the turntable means greater risk of the letters coming off the backing paper in the wrong position.
So - what i would like is firstly that the designer recreates the artwork in precisely the correct typeface. The 'Technics' logo and 'Quartz' logo will probably be available online in sufficient high resolution for this purpose.
Then, using the attached scan of the top of the turntable body, creates positioning guidelines which will be printed on to the dry transfer material so that i can quickly and easily position them on the turntable and hold them down with tape while i rub them off to apply the text
To be clear - it does not need to be one giant transfer the same size as the body of the turntable. It is split into 3 small sections
So, once these 3 section have been recreated,i'd then like them to be laid out for print to dry transfer material according to the spec on the company's website. I would like to fit as many as possible on the A3 sheet but to leave 10mm between each section, vertically and horizontally so that when i cut them up into the 3 sections i don't damage the letters.
Target audience: n/a
Ideas for the visual style: Exact copy
Extra notes:
