Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Information for the business: Small rural touring theatre company
Industry: Entertainment
Design details: We need a lead illustration to be used as part of the design work for the marketing materials for a small touring play.
The production is called "The Lone Pine Club". It's based on the Lone Pine books by Malcolm Saville.
• deadline is tight - we'd like to see a "rough sketch" of the illustration on Thursday if possible and the final artwork on monday next week
• to be produced in vectors in illustrator
• the illustration is a 2d map, showing craggy landscape based on the "Stiperstones" in one area and rolling hills in the other areas. The stiperstones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiperstones
• the main feature of the illustration is a 3d pine tree rising out of the map casting a shadow (not too moody)
• there will be a few other small details, like a path of footprints, secret camp, etc (see blurb below)
• we'll probably need to pull apart the illustration and use elements of seperately.
• 1940's/50's style - see attached illustration as a style guide - it'll need some simple colouring.
The main marketing blub is as follows:
BE TRUE TO EACH OTHER WHATEVER HAPPENS
David, Dickie and Mary are starting a journey they will never forget. With their new friend called Peter (a girl) they go off on their own and make a secret camp. They start The Lone Pine Club (which must be a real secret – particularly from grown-ups – who generally spoil everything however nice they are).
What begins as a game becomes a true test of courage and loyalty as they find themselves tumbling into all sorts of scrapes and adventures.
This summer join us for a family adventure as we pitch up in the grounds of your local National Trust….. Are you a brave adventurer worthy of joining the Lone Pine Club?
The illustration will need to fit into an 'A' proportion cover/flier/poster design and allow for copyspace - see rough design mock up for the sort of shape we require.
Target audience: Audience is children aged 8 years and above
Ideas for the visual style: 1940's/1950's, pen and ink with colour tints...
Things to avoid: dont illustrate the charaters - just the landscape, map, tree
Where the design will be used: A5 fliers, A4/A3 posters, website
