It's 2017 and marijuana has been legalized. The purpose of this advertisement is to raise brand awareness for the new Miller Mellow, a new Marijuana product, created from the Miller beer company. Miller Mellow is targeting the primary user base of Men 21-35. Unlike “Bud’s Buds” that offers an American Grown blend, Miller Mellow contains a blend of the best of the globe, with special emphasis on South American varieties of marijuana plants. After all, for years the best pot was grown south of the border.
Advertising has some unique constraints, as dictated by the FDA, who have classified Miller Mellow and Bud’s Buds as drugs. Marketers are required not to promote a “drug culture”, and must warn users of the potential for marijuana to lead them to harder narcotics. Advertising should focus on the relaxation and stress reduction associated with occasional marijuana use, in conjunction with a productive lifestyle. Partying references should be avoided.
