I have attached a picture of a banner by an insurance company, who have integrated a form into the banner via flash, and someone can only click through to the site once the form is filled in. Effectively turning CPC into Cost per Enquiry. The click submits the form AND takes them to the site.

My idea is to have banners that sell the idea of Cotswolds Connect, and have the signup process built into the banner; effectively turning CPC into Cost per member... we can then target the banner by IP address to only be shown to local people via the Google Content network..!!

The signup form that needs to talk to the banner can be found here:
• We would like the signup process to be broken into easy steps that then disappear when filled in (but someone filling in the steps must be able to go back and correct something)
• The banner size is 728 by 90 pixels
• The banner must compile with the Google content network terms and conditions (as this is what we are developing it for)
• We would like the banner theme to be consistent with the site
• Colours used must be site colours (same RGB etc)
• The following disclaimer should be on the banner (probably small in one line at the bottom)

By becoming a member of Cotswolds Connect you agree to our terms and conditions which can be found at

• Please pre-tick’ the standard member option and agreeing to the terms and conditions to make the signup process smaller.
• Our slogan is: Your LOCAL Social Networking site - exclusively for Cotswoldians!
• You can find our logo here:
• You are welcome to take screenshots, use profile pictures etc as you see fit to sell the concept of the site within the banner. The idea being someone can understand the site from the banner without having to visit it.

I think you will get two types of reactions to the banner. People who think I am not joining something without seeing it, who will then google the site/type in the url (which then costs us nothing) or the people who join from the banner, which we obviously don't mind paying for... traditional CPC traffic can cost a lot, which is why we haven’t entertained it. However on this basis I think it could work well...

Please let me know your thoughts/questions?
