Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the business: We advocate for refugees facing hunger in Africa
Design details: We want to give our advocacy campaign a memorable, original visual identity.
We want to avoid stereotyped images of hungry Africans and use instead illustrations that set us apart from the charity crowd.
The job would include:
1-Creating a logo
2-Creating three separate infographics to carry our campaigns basic message
3-Follow-on work (for extra money) as needed
We're looking for someone who:
1-Can offer a really original, striking set of illustrations that put our message across instantly
2-Understands Wordpress portfolio-themes - our website uses the Sketch theme -> http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sketch/, we need illustrations designed to fit the specific characteristics of that theme
3-Is ready to accept a reduced pay rate to contribute to a really good cause
Target audience: 18-30 year olds in North America who could, but don't yet, care about hunger in Africa
Ideas for the visual style: I'm envisioning something that uses line drawings, something stark and stylish and unconventional
Things to avoid: Stereotyped images of starving Africans
Preferred colors: Black, white and red
Urls to draw inspiration from: http://www.stevelightart.com
Where the design will be used: Web
Extra notes: Here's a rare PPH job that could really make a difference. Our organization actively works with major Food Aid donors to make sure some of the most vulnerable people in the world get enough to eat. We engage college students in North America to become advocates for refugees in Africa, and we want to reach more than "the usual suspects".
Our campaign needs a bold, original visual identity. We want to open up the conversation about hunger in Africa to young people who want to make a difference but don't quite know how.
This is your chance to think big and communicate strong.
When you bid, we'd like you to show us work you've done that's "out there": not necessarily winning designs for typical marketing job, but maybe work you've done "just for fun" or as part of a design class that really underscores your personal style and vision. Hand drawings would be great.
We want a visual identity that's distinctive, and we want to establish an ongoing relationship with a very talented designer strongly motivated to work for this cause.
