Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 day or less
Industry: Entertainment
Design details: Overview
========
My son is a keen writer. I'm looking for someone who can illustrate one of his creatures to motivate him to write more!
The design brief is:
* A portrait of the "Sludshark" character in a dramatic pose
* An appropriate swampy background
* Coloured (shading, not flat colours)
You should feel free to improvise any details or colours that aren't specified. Part of this exercise is for my son to see how his work can be taken in new directions.
It would be very helpful if you could point us to an existing piece of work so we can understand the quality that can be expected for the price. If you want, include links to multiple images showing different price points.
Below is the original writing. We've pulled out the key features of the "Sludshark" character and also suggested some poses.
Passage of Writing
===============
A herd of Armourdillo is passing through a swamp. Their small, but metal hard bodies barely disturb the water. All was quiet except for the soft chomping of ferns. Suddenly, the water ripples, and a tattered purple fin emerges on the surface. The Armourdillo collectively turn to look as the fin advances. Suddenly, Sludshark bursts out of the water and onto dry land. He stands on strong muscular legs, supported by webbed feet. Luminous purple saliva drips from Sludshark’s gaping mouth onto a large, blooming plant which withers and dies. An Armourdillo bellows and steps up to stand his ground, his defensive plates shining in the sun. Sludshark roars back, showing the radioactive teeth that fill his mouth, releasing poisonous gases into the air. The roar alone causes the trees to shake and the leaves to drop. Terrified, the other Armourdillo scatter into the forest, their braver friend starts to back away. Sludshark fires a large ball made of poisonous saliva from its mouth and kills the retreating Armourdillo. The poison rushing straight to its heart before it even moved. Sludshark takes a bite out of its kill. The second bite clears up the carcass, leaving only a hollowed out shell. With its hunger banished, the Sludshark slinks back into the water, the coarse skin on its tail fin the last to disappear.
Notes
=====
* Resembles a shark with 4 muscular legs with webbed feet
* Skin is purple
* Teeth are green and glowing with nuclear radiation
* Purple saliva
* Surrounded by toxic gases
Possible Poses
=============
* Sludshark is swimming through a swamp with its mouth wide open.
* Sludshark is standing on land, shooting out toxic missiles.
* Sludshark is standing on land, roaring.
Thank you for reading.
Ideas for the visual style: Think movie concept art, NOT comic book
