Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Information for the business: independent author
Industry: Publishing/Journalism
Design details: I'd like a design for the cover of my new children's book. I only need the illustration: I'll add my own type. It is in a fantasy medieval setting, something like King Arthur's court. The cover should show the three main characters: the king, the wizard and a talking raven. There may be a castle and/or mountains in the background. The book is going to be produced as an ebook initially and perhaps as a paperback later. The design will need to be effective as a thumbnail.
Target audience: middle grade readers (8-12)
Ideas for the visual style: I like the work of David Tazzyman, Chris Riddell, Korky Paul and Philip Reeve, if that helps.
Things to avoid: not a white background, as this doesn't work well for thumbnails.
Where the design will be used: ebook, paperback
Extra notes: I imagine King Arfa and Mervin the magician standing side by side with perhaps the raven flying just above them. Arfa is a grumpy, loud, arrogant medieval overlord. Mervin is the one who usually has to get him out of trouble. Croak the old raven is always on hand with a sarcastic comment or two.
