UPDATE AT BOTTOM
Hello,
I've written a simple children's counting book. It has 8 main pages that can be a double page spread with the text on one side and the main part of the picture on the other. The book will need a cover, so one of these pictures can be reused for that, or a new one created. Please state if your bid includes a book cover.
The story is about a boy fishing in the sea (with a worm on a fishing rod hook), who catches a: fish; a crab; an eel; an octopus; a dolphin; a shark and a whale. The sea creatures will all be interacting in some way with the boy - i.e. biting or eating him.
It would be helpful if the illustrator is able to insert the text that I supply onto the pictures and insert the title page, copyright and acknowledgment pages in and save it all as a .pdf with a resolution of at least 300 dpi (see below for more specific details).
The images must be in colour. The images themselves can be created by any means, so long as they capable of being saved in a .pdf format. The finished book size will be 8.5" x 8.5", full colour, at least 300 dpi resolution, CMYK colour space and so the PDF spec will need to have its version compatibility set for Acrobat 6.0/PDF V1.5 (at least), or similar.
The artist will have to assign full copyright to the me and/or the publisher, but will be granted a license to reuse up to 50% of their own images on a non-commercial basis. Reuse on a commercial basis might be possible, but only with written permission from the publisher.
I would prefer the book to be completed within 4 months.
The book will be published by Hauxwell Publishing and the illustrator will be named in the published book.
Any questions, please ask away!
Thanks,
Wendy
UPDATE: so far, about 98% of bids are for the same price (£200) and most work samples are digital/vector style. A few people are relying on their design portfolios consisting of mostly logo/business card/website examples of their work which makes it extremely difficult to tell whether they would be any good drawing pictures for a children's book. Apart from price and someone nice to work with of course (as with any job), the most important thing for THIS job is the ability to draw some beautiful pictures. Unless you can show me that you can do this, then you will waste your time bidding for this job. For those of you who have showed me your lovely art work already - thank you - I'll have a tough job deciding!
For the rest, happy bidding! :)
