Hello! We are Bad Scene. A (very) small collective of like minded souls who hail from various corners of geekdom including, but not exclusive to, film and television production, podcasting, and one who became an ordained minister on a whim. We are aiming to self-publish a graphic novel and are in search of the right person for some initial character designs.
The Story:
A washed up celebrity police dog gets a chance at redemption when a killer’s spree forces him to reconnect with his sidekick and revisit the bones of their past that will continue to haunt them until the truth is dug up. Inspired by the McGruff The Crime Dog public service announcements of the 80’s, it is imagined as a gritty crime drama that takes place in a world where anthropomorphic cats and dogs co-exist with humans.
We are seeking an artist who will help create lead characters that can convey emotions as complex as their human couterparts while still maintaining animalisitc qualities. An ideal candidate would be someone who understands the balance between the inherent silliness of such characters and the dark tone of the story.
With the right person this has the potential to be an ongoing gig as there are a number of characters (both animal and human) that need specific looks. In the near future we will begin looking for illustrators, inkers and colorists to complete the graphic novel which currently clocks in at at approximately 95-110 pages.
Please let us know if you think this project would be a good fit for your talents and we will send you our "lookbook" to give you a better idea of the story, tone and character concepts we're aiming for. Fees and deal points are always negotiable.
Thanks for looking!
