Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the business: We make games.
Design details: We're a two man development team with an ambitious project and are looking for an artist to help us reach our goal. We are creating a 2D top-down perspective game targeting mobile devices including both iOS and Android.
This brief relates to our first goal; to establish a design style, a look and feel of the game. We will supply you with a small section of our city map (10 x 10 tiles) which is currently just solid block squares. We would like to see as many different versions of the same section of map in different styles. For example one could be a cartoony treatment, one could be realistic, another could be a highly stylised vector interpretation. Basically just use your imagination! So, if you have lots of different styles in your repertoire then this is the job for you.
On delivery of your sample mockups (ideally we'd want to see a minimum of three) we will make a decision on the direction we wish to go. We would expect the successful candidate to continue to work with us, creating actual tiles for the entire game so you should be available to work with us in the near future. Make no mistake about it, this is a big project and with that in mind the budget for future work will have to be negotiated so that both parties are happy to move forward.
This proposal should be seen as the first step in the project and a way for us to not only find a suitable style but also find a person that we can work well with over a longer period of time. We're both very committed and hardworking and are looking for a like minded person to help us.
Ideas for the visual style: Realistic, Vectorised, Cartoony
Things to avoid: Pixel Art.
Where the design will be used: Mobile Game
Extra notes: Attached are 3 samples.
The first is a section of the city at 320x320 pixels.
The second is the same section at 640x640 pixels.
The final attachment is an explanation, describing what each tile type should be.
We would like you to use these samples as the base for your mockups. We've chosen this section as it contains buildings, roads of different sizes, road corners and grass.
Although we are currently using single tile blocks to represent all buildings (as well as roads and grass) we would expect a custom building to be drawn and then chopped up into individual tiles so feel free to draw over the grid lines for your mockups.
Specifications :
Each mockup delivered should be in PNG format with dimensions 320x320 and 640x640 pixels like the attachments.
IMPORTANT :
At least 1 design should be your interpretation of a 'Realistic' city, ie not cartoonish.
