Need 9 color illustrations of a 'Needle in a Haystack'

I am currently developing a presentation about the various solutions available for finding a needle in a haystack. To bring each solution to light, I need a total of 9 illustrations created. These illustrations should be simple, color drawings with sufficient detail to convey the message. For each of the 9 drawings, I will provide:

1) A hand-drawn mock-up from me as to what the image should include (apologies if my drawing skills are poor)
2) A written description of what the picture is meant to show
3) A reference picture of some or all of the items included in the image

The most important thing is that all 9 images share the same look and feel and that there's sufficient detail to convey the message. I have included some examples below, but can provide the full set of reference images to the artist that is ultimately chosen
