Experience Level: Expert
I am looking for an illustrator/book designer for an ongoing children’s book series.
The project involves:
• Three new illustrated children’s books
• One existing book revision/update (PSD files already available)
The revised book will mainly require adjustment, refinement, pagination updates, and improvement of existing artwork rather than creating a completely new book from scratch.
Budget:
• £200 per new book
• Revised existing book priced separately at a lower rate due to existing artwork/assets already being provided
For EACH new book, I require:
• 10x10 inch children’s book layout
• Full cover design
• Pagination and interior page layout
• Placement of supplied text into the book
• Approximately 15 illustrations
• Consistent character design for the main character “Emna”
• Final print-ready and digital-ready files
• PSD/source files supplied at completion
Book Style:
The books focus on culture, history, landscapes, forts, rivers, and heritage connected to Jammu (Bhimber, Kotli, and Mirpur). The style should feel warm, cinematic, educational, and suitable for children.
Important:
• The stories and creative direction already exist
• This is not a completely from-scratch concept development project
• Consistency across all books is extremely important
• Long-term collaboration preferred
Please send:
• Portfolio examples of children’s books
• Examples of cover and interior layouts
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator
• Estimated turnaround time
• Confirmation you are happy to provide PSD/source files
Bonus if you have experience with:
• Historical/cultural illustration
• Educational children’s books
• Social media promotional artwork or animation
If you previously applied and were shortlisted or runner-up for earlier projects, please feel free to apply again, as I am now expanding the series into multiple books and long-term collaboration opportunities. An NDA will need to be signed before hand

Hi Rafat, before I submit final timings and structure, one quick clarification: for the three new books, do you already have a character reference sheet or approved visual style for Emna and the recurring environments, or would you like the first book to establish the master visual language that will carry across the full series?

Have you already established Emna’s character design from the previous book, or would you like it refined further for stronger consistency across the series?
