Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am a Japanese children's author based in Plymouth.
I recently wrote a text for a children's picture book called 'Ugabongos came to play'. It is a story in which a child's emotion during a tantrum is depicted as small monsters. Daddy in the story wants his daughter to be with only the happy monsters and this leads to the frightening monster called Gloom to come. Mummy's love and hug dispels Gloom and she encourages the child to play with all of the monsters thus embracing every emotions felt by the child.
The story is aimed at 4 to 7 year old to whom parents would read the book. It is so that they can start conversations about feelings.
with 1 in 3 children suffering from mental health issues, I believe it can be relevant book for the current times.
I am in conversation with Trigger publishing's children's imprint called Upside Down Books, which deals exclusively with mental health issues. And I am also in conversation with Anna Freud, a children's mental health charity, with a view to donating my royalties from the sale of the book to them.
When I saw your work, I was immediately struck by the unique characters and the dynamic way in which you portray them. I feel there may be a market for the little monsters as ornaments or plushie dolls too.
I would love to touch base with you to discuss the project further
I am attaching the story for you to have a look
I look forward to hearing from you

Hello,
I'd love to bid but sounds like you are trying to reach a specific artist from what you wrote. Is this the case or are you open to other artists and if so, what style do you want for the art, how many illustrations and what is your budget?
Thank you,
Lauren
