Design for Card Game

Hi there,


I am looking for someone who can create graphical design for new card game. Name of card game is “DECO”. Motive and design should be colourful and joyful, yet simple. Game is supposed for children. There will be cards from 1..7 and one card called X. This means there will be separated design of 8 cards. Each card will be four different colors: yellow, blue, green, red.

General requirements:
• Provided files should be compatible with GIMP.
• Each design component should be in separated layer.
• Back side of cards should have 3 mm black border. Inner corners of border should be rounded. Color of border should be easily changed in GIMP.
• Front side of cards should have 3 mm white border. Inner corners of border should be rounded. Color of border should be easily changed in GIMP.
• Good communication skills of designer.


Whole work will consist of 3 subtasks:

1) Design back of cards
All cards will have same back. Main colors should be: Red, Yellow, Black, White(you can choose additional colors, it’s up to yours artistic sense). On back side there should be logo of the game: “DECO”. Logo should be simple, but distinctive.


2) Design front of the cards
There will be 8 different types of cards. Each Card will be in 4 different colors: Blue, Yellow, Green, Red. This means you should design 8 different cards. And there should be 4 variants of color for each card.


Cards 1..6 : There will be separated card for each number 1,2,3,4,5,6. There will be nothing else on the card, only number (1..6) within some nice graphical design.

Card 7 : There will be separated card design for number 7. This card should be different from cards 1..6. Number 7 card should evoke power. Design should evoke, that this card is more powerful than the rest of other cards.

Card X : This card should be different from card 7 and cards 1..6. This card should evoke, that this card is valuable. This is the only card in game that has any value, so the X should nice and somehow different. Emblem on card should be just “X” in some nice graphical design.

Size of cards:
Height: 90mm
Width: 60mm


2.1) Colorblind friendly incorporated

Game should be “Colorblind friendly”. This means there should be bellow symbols displayed for given color on each card. Symbol should be incorporated to card design without disturbing artistic impression of the card. Symbols should be relatively small (i.e.: 5mmx5mm).

3) Design of box for cards:

Box for game will be simple paper box with similar shape, as in attached file: “box-cards.png”
Please try, several background of box yellow, red, purple. My preferred color is warm yellow.
Design of box is divided into 4 sides:
• Box front side
• Box back side
• Box top side -> design not required, only plain background color.
• Box bottom side -> design not required, only plain background color.
• Box left side -> design not required, only plain background color.
• Box right side -> design not required, only plain background color.


3.1) Box front side
Main element of front side should be logo “DECO”. On front side there should be as well images of card 4, card 5, card 6, card 7, card X
There should be bellow elements on fronts side:
3.1.1) Logo/Icon of Slovak Republic on front side in left down corner, rounded with text “Made in Slovakia”
3.1.2) Logo/Icon of European Union in right corner, rounded with text “Made in EU”
3.1.3) Icon for ”Colorblind Friendly” in right to corner. Please remember, there is no official sign for “Colorblind Friendly”, so please create some simple logo for this purpose. You can see example in link bellow.
3.1.4) Icon which describes that game is suitable for kids older than 6 years.
3.1.5) Icon that describes that game is suitable for players: from 2 up to 4 players. 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 can be somehow incorporated into one icon.

3.2) Box back side
Back side of box should incorporate bellow design elements:
- Space for barcode
- Space for QR code
- Place holder for text in EN describing game: “Fun tactical card game for whole family.”

Game name (Logo) Alternative

I am assuming, game will be called “DECO”, however I still have another one name on my mind “SEPTEM”. Please create alternative design for Card Name both for “DECO” and “SEPTEM”.
Card name will be displayed on:
• Back of cards
• Front side of box

Logo Design
I have no exact expectation of how logo should look like. However, logo should be simple, maybe simple 3D. Colourful and joyful.
