Description:
Data Visualization - Universities & Commercial Model Options
Objective:
We need a single PowerPoint slide that visually represents how 160 UK universities (who may want to develop an online learning portfolio with a partner like us) align with our four different commercial models based on a set of fluctuating attributes. This slide will be used in a board-level presentation, so clarity, professionalism, and strategic insight are key.
Key Points to Visualize:
Universities as Potential Clients:
There are 160 universities in the UK, each of which could be a potential client.
They have varying attributes that impact which commercial models they might qualify for.
Four Commercial Models:
The models vary in terms of investment and risk for us.
The model a university falls into is not fixed—it can change over time as our discussions evolve.
More than one model may be relevant to a university at any given time.
Volume Distribution Across Models:
We need to visually depict the number of universities that currently fit into each commercial model.
This should highlight the scale of opportunity and risk across the different models.
Design Considerations:
The visualization must be clear and intuitive for a boardroom audience.
A professional, polished design that aligns with business decision-making.
It should tell a story at a glance—helping viewers quickly grasp the distribution and strategic significance of the models.
Ideally, use simple but effective visuals (e.g., quadrant charts, heat maps, bubble charts, or other creative ways to show universities moving between models).
Deliverable:
A single PowerPoint slide with a well-designed, data-driven visualization.
Any necessary annotations or explanations to support interpretation.
Next Steps:
To develop two or three layout concepts before finalizing the design. Style examples shared in the attachments but I am open to suggestions.
Ensure the visualization is editable, as university data may change over time.
