Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I have two existing A4 (Portrait) medical supply brochures that I need to split down into A4 Landscape 'chapters'. These might be just 4-8 pages each. These will need to be done by an experienced INDD designer who is used to applying character and object styles to page layouts. The idea is to end up with a series of concise mini-documents which are rather more like data-sheet PDFs than the old-style heavy brochure - which are generally 80% useless to the end user and a waste of paper!
Essentially the project is pragmatic and in two parts: To split down about 50 pages from existing catalogue(s) to 8 smaller PDFs that can be used by our clients on digital tablets. Output (to them, eventually...) will be basic PDF from INDD. This will involve flipping the layout from Portrait to Landscape and applying a consistent style throughout. This should be straightforward for an experienced INDD user. The second part of the project is to subtly re-work the design style to bring the whole thing up-to-date - this is why I would like the project delivered with applied design styles which we can amend without too much hassle. The Typeface set currently contains Helvetica Neue which is nice but causes a lot of cross-platform problems as you will know; we will certainly swap for a clean non-serif font which causes less, pointless grief!
All photographic imaging is hi-end studio shot, typically PNG with alpha channel. Text for tables and descriptors will be lift-able from existing documents, so project is largely basic assembly but with an intelligent design eye.
There is an existing in-house style for this project which the client likes - so we need to finesse this, rather than do major re-branding. The medical-product-look is clean white/blue and needs to stay that way - similarly client logo etc are all fixed. Typically, we would do this all in-house but are currently over-committed and running a little behind with this. If we can find an INDD designer who can work with us on other projects that will be a bonus.
Depending on workload this end we may be able to interactively work on this project but certainly will be able to liaise intelligently as it comes together. From the design side, the chosen designer may choose to start with a few design options for the basic layout; in all cases the cover will be a pretty bold photographic image with wrapped text and the following pages fairly consistent data and tables which we will try to make as fresh and modern as possible. So the 'design' element options are really only across these two page types on this project.

Hi John,
Don't you have any fixed-budget offers in mind? Also when is your deadline for this urgent project?
