Visual Design for Suite of Educational Websites
Overview
We are developing a suite of four educational websites targeting teenagers (aged 14-19) and their parents, focused on Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and an overarching Science site. These sites will provide high-quality educational content, including audio guides, workbooks, and interactive resources. The sites will share a cohesive brand identity while allowing for subject-specific differentiation.
Scope of Work
We require a visual identity package for these websites, which includes the following deliverables:
1. Website Visual Design
A complete visual concept for one website (Chemistry Unlocked: Hear It, Write It, Ace It) that can be adapted for the three other sites.
The design should include:
Homepage layout
Key internal page templates (e.g., pricing, resources, about, and contact pages)
Mobile and desktop responsive design mockups
Design must reflect:
Professionalism and trustworthiness to appeal to parents
Vibrancy and relatability to engage teenagers
Integration of the tagline and core value proposition ("Hear It, Write It, Ace It")
2. Logo Design
A primary logo for Chemistry Unlocked, with:
A distinctive visual identity tied to the subject of Chemistry
A version that works across various formats (full-size, square, icon, monochrome)
Logos for the sister sites:
Physics Unlocked
Biology Unlocked
Science Unlocked
These should share a similar design language (e.g., typography, style) while using subject-specific elements (e.g., atom for Physics, DNA strand for Biology, combined motifs for Science).
3. Branding Guidelines
A concise brand guide for maintaining visual consistency across the suite:
Colour palette (primary and secondary colours)
Typography (headings, body text, and call-to-action styles)
Iconography and graphic style guidelines
Rules for subject-specific differentiation
4. Designer-Friendly Assets
Provide files and assets for a web designer to use when building the site:
Editable design files: Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch formats
Logo files: SVG, PNG, and vector files for each variation
Font files or recommendations
Image assets: High-resolution graphics or placeholders
Design specifications: Detailed instructions on spacing, padding, button styles, etc.
Design Goals
Unified Branding: All four websites should look like part of a cohesive family, but each should have subtle, subject-specific variations. For example:
Chemistry: Shades of red .
Physics: Shades of blue or grey.
Biology: Shades of green or earthy tones, .
Science: A balanced mix of all subject colours and motifs, combining them into a unified theme.
Modern Appeal: Designs must be visually appealing to teenagers, with vibrant colours, dynamic visuals, and engaging layouts.
Professional Tone: Maintain a level of professionalism to assure parents of the site’s quality and trustworthiness.
Flexibility: Designs should be adaptable for future updates or new sections.
Deliverables Checklist
Visual concept for the Chemistry Unlocked website
Logos for all four sites
Branding guidelines document
Editable design files for web developers
Image and icon assets

Submission Process
Please include the following in your proposal:
