Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
Information on the business: Arboricultural Consultancy
Industry: Environment
Design details: Create a series of cartoons - 1-3 frames a piece, as a 'funny' to add to the end of blog posts. The concept is to call it 'The Secret World of Trees' but within this we can have unlimited tree-related themes, early ideas include Trees vs Squirrels / Birds, The Evil Tree, When a tree is around and no one is there to hear it...... you get the idea and I am open to yours as you will need to be the creative once my ideas are exhausted!
The copyright for the artwork you produce will be transferred to me as part of the contract. There may be opportunity to use this to promote yourself - depending on how that is done and especially if that lowers the cost.
Ideally every image should look like a cartoon gag if seen in a facebook timeline / twitter feed to make people want to open it and see what the gag is. So the images should be pretty simple. If we can nail the concept and come up with enough ideas and it works this could be a long-term project as my business marketing is primarily online and I can't see I time I will not be blogging. Photos can be used too (as long as public domain image that does not require a license).
Emphasis on being able to churn them out quickly and cheap, so prefer hand-drawn, scanned images. Later on as my business grows and depending on how well the feature grows, the budget for the cartoon may go up. Right now its just a bit of a leftfield marketing idea to make my website gain authority by increasing traffic and viral potential of blog posts.
Target audience: General public
Messages to communicate through the design: None - just make people smile - ideally laugh! Make them want to follow my blog just for the cartoon even if they find the content a yawn! I thought this may be an easier task than sourcing (useable) images relevant to my blog stories without just having pictures of trees all the time, which is boring.
Ideas for the visual style: Simple, black and white, outlines, maybe colour depending on price.
Urls to draw inspiration from: www.treereports.co.uk (my website) - otherwise be unique where possible so please don't look at other sites.
Extra notes: Uber important - generic proposals will be ignored and if you are not a sole trader or one man band company don't bother applying as you are not eligible. Have a look at my website blog before you pitch. Sorry to have to state the obvious, but I get so many bad pitches on here. No matter how good your artwork is - I want to see that we can work well on a business level too or you will be considered 'hassle' regardless of how well you can draw!.Proposals less than a couple of paragraphs will generally be ignored too.
