Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Design details: We have a number of DWG files originally created by Solidworks CAD.
These need to be converted to Siemens NX format. There is a requirement to embed a new drawing number into each drawing sheet, onto the title block. All this must be achieved by the creation of a script.
Data processing
DWGs will have already been converted to NX 8.5 format.
We require a new drawing number be embedded into the drawing title block, inside the existing Drawing number field, as a suffix, in brackets.
Example = ‘ABC123’ becomes ‘ABC123 (222/D9999)’
The matched drawing numbers (Old New), will be provided in an Excel document so that you know which new part number needs to be embedded in the existing DWG drawing number field.
The font size for this particular field will need to be reduced, to allow the new content to fit.
Where there is more than one drawing sheet, the same modification will need to be introduced on every sheet.
All other fields will remain as-is and there will be no modification to the file name.
Reporting
A log file is preferable, to indicate - per file - whether an output has been successful or not.
i.e.
ABC123 = File created OK
ABC124 = Error
Ideas for the visual style: CAD Translation

Thanks for inviting me for this project but unfortunately I do not have any experience with UG. I only work with SOLIDWORKS at the moment. Thanks once again for your time and consideration.
