I would like to convert a window to a back door in my ground floor flat. To do this I would like to hire an architectural technician to draw plans for the building warrant. I plan to apply for the warrant myself therefore the work required is to only prepare adequate drawings/notes etc.
We have previously applied for a building warrant for other work completed on the property therefore we already have an OS map from that drawing that I can hopefully photocopy, scan and use again. We also have drawings of the whole property if thats of any use.
I have attached a photo of the window from the inside and outside to get an idea of the job at hand. The measurement inside the window is aprox 75x41 inches
I have already contacted Edinburgh Planning Permission and they have officially communicated that a building warrant is the only requirement. This is a tenement building but not listed.
I don't believe there are any drainage implications. I had a building control officer at our property recently to sign off other work completed and he had a look at the proposed window requiring the work and he said it was pretty straight forward and didn't mention drainage or gulley issues. He saw area from inside and out. He did say whoever was drawing the plans would make notes about dampproof requirements in the notes.
I looking forward to hearing from interested parties.
Kind regards
Clio
