Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Information for the business: Perforated sheet metal
Industry: Technology
Design details: Starting point are approximately 350 shapes in differtent forms. The shape shown in this drawing is characteristic for these forms. We want to achieve the following in Autocad (preferably Autocad LT)
1. offset the boundary in two different distances: the long edges 55mm, the short edges 15mm. It would be great to have some kind of control, for example: first clicking on the lines that should offset 15mm, hitting enter, then clicking on the lines that have to offset 55mm. The result should be a closed polyline.
2. Perforation in triangular pattern, round 15, centre to centre distance 20mm. (Perhaps using a hatch and then exploding it to circles). The pattern has to be inside the offsetted boundary made in step 1.
3. We have to be able to align the perforation pattern to a line we select (in most cases the longest line in the shape, in this case from point 1 to point 2).
Ideas for the visual style: None

SIR , YOU REQUIRE to align the perforation pattern , so do you want me to make a BLOCK of the perforation pattern so you can ROTATE it about any TWO POINTS of a line ?

Hi Martin, Could I use Solidworks instead autocad? I'll provide a dwg format for you to open it in autocad.
