Description
Experience Level: Entry
ok - have never done this before but here goes ... I need a CAD drawing (I'm told) for a prototype small object. I'll give you the basics and see where we go from there.
I want a small folding ruler, which folds by swivelling - I want it to ONLY open to 90 degrees and stop at that point, preferably with some kind of built in stop to ensure that it does not go over 90 degrees. It should be no more than 12 cm long when folded, to incorporate mm/cm markings up to 10cm from the mid point of the hinge.
I want the swivel hinge to allow the insertion of a pen or pencil tip to make a mark through it. The idea is that when unfolded to the right angle point, and the ruler sides are placed against marks on both an x and y axis, that the hinge (with hole) will then enable the pen/pencil to mark the appropriate co-ordinate.
It will hopefully eventually be made in either acrylic or plastic and should not be floppy. Straight edges only, not bevelled in anyway. It needs to be quite thin (not bulky) to enable insertion of pen/pencil, but sturdy and preferably non-breakable, and approx 1cm wide (2cm when folded). It also needs to be clear so that the markings will be visible. The swivel hinge will need to be flush so that the ruler sits smoothly on paper.
It needs to be as smooth as possible so that dirt doesn't get ingrained anywhere.
I have other detail in mind but not sure how much of it you will need to know. I could perhaps benefit from chatting to you about this, so that you could ask specific questions, and maybe tell me other things I may need to bear in mind.
What other information do you need at this stage?
Thanks
