Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Dear all, we are a family of shoe enthusiasts and are in the process of developing a brand, that is focused solely on room shoes (slippers). We want to create one, perfect model, which will iterate only by colour and texture. The upper is constructed of three layers: top (wool, cotton, linen, jeans, corduroy, chinos), mid (insulation - cotton, wool), lining (cotton, towelling fabric, linen). The insole is EVA/memory foam and is clothed with the same fabric, which is used for the lining. This enables us to achieve an uniform inner of the shoe, that is aimed to be in contrast with its top layer. The insole is attached 9fixed)to the shoe bed with a Velcro. There is a midsole, which serves as an insulation and is made of 2mm thick pressed wool filz. From the outer side it is clothed with the fabric top layer of the upper. From the inner side it is clothed with the lining material. The outsole is made of coloured crepe rubber and is glued to the bottom of the shoe. The top and mid materials of the upper are glued together, using a double sided adhesive cotton interlining. This gives a certain rigidity of the upper. The lining is stitched to the top of the upper and then turned inside out to its place. The upper and the bottom of the shoe are stitched together inside out and then are turned. The shoe is put on a last and the crepe rubber outsole is glued to the shoe bottom, using an airbag press. The brand and the logogram are attached asymmetrically on both shoes. The logogram is on the right of the right upper, whereas the brand is on the left heel of the upper. The crepe rubber outsole is branded as well. It carries the printed brand (horizontally on the heel), the logogram (in the center) and the word “ikigai”(top left sole rim in English, top right sole rim in Japanese). The room shoes can be worn both as slip-ons, as well as loafers. To give you a reference, construction wise, we are aiming to create something similar to an Albert loafer, only softer, sportier and more colorful and happy. Below you will find attached some of our prototypes. We are looking to team up with someone, who is a shoe enthusiast, loves the product, is positive and does not mind iterating until the job is perfect, with superior CAD skills, who could help us refine the design, digitize it, produce renderings, grade it, and create a full technical pack, which will give us the ability to scout for potential manufacturers from a distance. We are very much looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards! Lora and Boris Amipa.

Hi Lora and Boris,
do you guys have any sketches to give some idea about the time needed to draw it in CAD? Besides the CAD, are you also looking for help with the design, tech pack, material, sampling and manufacturing? Would you be open to manufacturing in China? Depending on the design, quantity as low as 30-50pairs per design is acceptable ;)
Let me know, thanks!
cheers,
Agnes
