Description
Content on the front/back side and body: Advert layout
Ideas for the visual style: Advert layout
Extra notes: I am seeking to work with a graphic designer on an ongoing, long term basis, in a new advertising business which I hope to launch at the end of April 2017. I have already registered a company and also have a registered trademark. I also have a website set up.
The business will be advertising local businesses in North London. I intend to start selling advertising space from the end of April 2017 with a view to a graphic designer starting to lay out adverts at the beginning of June, and from then onwards.
I will be producing six printed booklets. Each booklet will be distributed to every household within a 6 specific postcodes of North London which are geographically adjacent to each other. The booklets will contain adverts and vouchers from local businesses. Businesses are free to advertise in as many or few booklets as they wish. I intend each booklet to be published monthly.
The job will be to take text and images and lay out the adverts in a print ready pdf. All images should be supplied at a minimum of 300dpi. Advertisers may also stipulate what font they wish to use and what size of font. They may also indicate what colours (and give RGB coordinates) or provide a website or flyer which can be used as a guide in creating the background colour. If they do not provide this information, it will be up to you to use your discretion.
With regard to turn around times, all text, images and other information needed to construct the adverts should be submitted by the 5th day of the month for inclusion in the following month's edition (each edition comes out within the first week of the month). This deadline is the same for all 6 booklets. I have also stated that final proofs of adverts should be approved in writing, by advertisers, by 23rd of the month. Advertisers are allowed 2 rounds of minor amendments to text or font but not overall layout.
This would mean that on 5th of the month you would collect all the information (images and text etc) and lay out adverts in the 6 booklets, each in a print ready pdf. These would then be sent back to the advertisers, so they could be proof read and 2 rounds of minor amendments made (if needed) with final proofs needing to be approved by 23rd. So, that's about 2 and a half weeks to layout the ads, make any minor amendments and send back to me.
If we say on average that each booklet has 40 adverts, then the job will be to layout 40× 6 = 240 adverts. However, since many advertisers will choose to advertise in more than one booklet, we could come up with a figure of around 200 unique adverts or so each month. It is hard to predict how this would change over time (some months there might be more unique adverts and other months less). Lastly, some advertisers may supply adverts which are already completely made up and just need to be dropped into the pdf without any work.
If you are able to give me a rough quote on how you would price this up, what you would charge for this and how it would work, that would be great.

How early do you need this completed?Clive G.31 Mar 2017It is for ongoing work
Danie D31 Mar 2017Well noted thanks, whats your budget?

You need to factor in a cost for simply dropping in ads. Most are more troublesome than designing them from scratch. People do them themselves or get some cheap 'designer' to slap them together without understand print/bleed/sizes or what will print and what will hold up your press.
Saying that what type of business' will these be?
Will they be getting a copy of the pdf afterward?
What will be supplied?
Will the designer be expected to interact with the clients and end up writing and doing concept him or herself.
Plus if this is a brochure of pure advertising a template will need to be built and covers designed.
You are not looking at anything cheap. Or rather if you expect to do it right you are not looking at something cheap -
Hi great project, did you have an idea of how much you'd like to pay per ad? I imagine there will various sizes, can you please send guidelines.
Clive G.31 Mar 2017Hi, there are three different sizes of ad: half page, single page and double page in a DL landscape booklet
Alexander W.01 Apr 2017Thanks for the reply. I imagine you'll have a sliding scale of charges for each size of ad so, I'll quote accordingly.
