UK-based writer and book designer for a pregnancy activity book

I’m an independent publisher looking for a UK-based freelancer to help produce a Pregnancy Activity Book: a friendly, funny activity book for mums-to-be.
The book will be approximately 90 interior pages, featuring puzzles, quizzes, humorous activities and quote-colouring pages. The tone is warm and relatable, with a little snark but no swearing—covering unsolicited advice, endless toilet trips, disappearing feet, snack requirements and naps.
Someone who understands the everyday realities of pregnancy and has a good feel for British humour would be ideal.

What I will provide
• The book structure and agreed page concepts.
• Detailed briefs for the activities.
• A cover concept to recreate and refine.
• Final trim size and printing specifications.

What I need you to deliver
• Finished copy based on our supplied concepts, including instructions, quiz questions and results.
• A professionally designed black-and-white interior, using simple illustrations and consistent layouts.
• Separate print-ready interior and cover PDFs for Amazon KDP and Lightning Source, using the correct specifications and cover templates.
• Editable source files for the interior and cover.

Budget
The fixed budget is £500 for the complete project, including writing, puzzle creation, interior design, cover production and final files for both platforms. Please apply only if you can deliver the full scope within this budget.
I need to work with someone who is happy to go back and forth to get things right.

Timing and communication
I’m looking to complete the project over the next couple of months. I’d like to work with someone who is responsive, communicates clearly and is happy to go back and forth as we develop and refine the book.

I’ll be reviewing applications over the next few days and getting back to shortlisted applicants next week.

Applying
Please don’t send me a long, generic AI-generated proposal. I won’t read it. A few straightforward lines in your own words explaining why you’d be good for this particular project, with relevant examples, are all I need.

Please show me that you’ve read the brief. Please only apply if you have experience preparing files for KDP and Lightning Source and that you are UK-based and can complete the project for £500.

We’ll agree a small first milestone to check the writing tone and interior design before progressing with the rest of the book. This milestone will form part of the £500 total.
