Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hello. I'm after a series of book cover designs. There will be six in total and they will all follow the same theme.
For the front cover, there will be the face of a woman morphing into the image of a monster/skull - effectively one image coming into the foreground whilst the other drops into the background, so that more of the image of the monster/skull is revealed in each successive book. I'm assuming that this can probably be achieved through changing the bias of filters in overplayed images, rather than the need for completely bespoke designs for each book.
For the rear cover, there will be a very simple image of three concentric circles, cut by a horizontal line through the middle. Above the line, the inner most segment will be coloured white, the middle segment black and the outer most segment white. below the line, the colour scheme will be the opposite - black/white/black - I can provide a pen drawing if needed.
In terms of colour scheme, I would like the base colour for front and rear to be black. However, I would also like some form of halo or vignette around the front and rear images, so that there can be a bit of a colour bias around the images, depending upon the book so that it is easy to see at a glance which book in the series might be being viewed e.g. a green hue for book 1, yellow for book 2 etc. This colour bias can then be picked up in any text.
I have attached some examples of the images I would like used for the front cover. I haven't attached them as I don't want to unwittingly fall foul of any copyright issues (although they are only images I have downloaded from the internet), but can provide them to whoever takes the job forward. One is a photo of the face of a woman, which is a very good fit both in terms of looks and seriousness of expression. The other is the skull of a monkey and the only real change that would be needed is to erase the eye sockets and replace them with bone (so there are no eye sockets.)
The books are not contemporary, but I don't want lots of detail added to the images to try and reference the time period etc - just the subtle transformation of one image into another - with the first book having the first signs of this transformation.
